Dallemagne was found dead on April 27, with the Koh Tao police ruling it as a suicide. But her mother, Michele van Egten, is not convinced by the claim. Ms van Egten had been talking via Skype with her daughter quite regularly prior to Dallemagne's death. But the Belgian embassy in Bangkok told the mother that Dallemagne had merely been standing close to the tracks. Two of Dallemagne's friends told Ms van Egten that her daughter looked well after her hospital stay.
